CHRISTMAS TREE BLESSING AT LODGE BROTHERS COBHAM

Image

Lodge Brothers funeral directors Cobham recently invited bereaved families to an intimate Christmas tree blessing ceremony held at the branch in Holly Hedge Road.

Following a service and blessing from Rev Canon Robert Jenkins of St Andrews Church, families were given the opportunity to hang a message on the tree, then the lights were switched on and will stay lit through the Christmas period as a mark of remembrance for those loved ones lost in Cobham this year.

Afterwards, refreshments and were served and memories were shared, and as they left the guests thanked the staff for arranging this lovely act of remembrance.

PHYLLIS TUCKWELL HOSPICE GETS THEIR CHRISTMAS TREE!

Not one to shy away from a challenge, Paul Bye at Lodge Brothers could not turn down the opportunity to save Christmas for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice when he was approached by the Hospice for help.

The Hospice had been gifted a 20ft Christmas tree from a local garden centre but they had no way of delivering the tree to the Hospice. The gauntlet was thrown down and within hours a large lorry was hired, and Chris Oliver and Paul were on their way to deliver the tree.

The Dutch tree took centre stage at the Hospice’s ‘Light up a Life’ event on 28th November.

Organising a funeral can seem like a daunting task, especially when we find ourselves having to make difficult decisions at a time of loss and bereavement, when we feel least able to manage. Lodge Brothers funeral directors Englefield Green dedicated professional and empathetic staff are available 24 hour service, 365 days a year, providing advice on what needs to be done and by whom.

We take this opportunity to wish our customers a very happy festive season.

The annual ‘Black Cherry Fair’ has been taking place in the market town of Chertsey for many hundreds of years, and this year, local business Lodge Brothers Funeral Directors had a stall. But unlike most others on the Abbeyfields site, they weren’t selling anything!

District Manager, Richard Leachman, and one of his team of Funeral Arrangers, Tom Hoyles, gave away nearly 300 bottles of water to passers-by on what was another warm summer’s day.

Conversations did follow, many of them surrounding the topic of personal funeral planning.

Toys Donated to Bellfields “Little Fishes” Play Group by J.Monk & Sons

J.Monk & Sons of Guildford have always been very supportive of local community projects, so when we were approached by St Peters Shared Church, Bellfields to help out with the “Little Fishes” toddler group, we were only too pleased.

We began by sending out an appeal to our staff for the donation of toys suitable for 1-4 year olds. The response was overwhelming and the toys come tumbling in!

Bellfields is one of the most deprived areas in Surrey, so having somewhere safe for children to play and learn is a great community asset.

Beverley Lodge and Paul Bye spent a few hours with the children handing over prams, ride-on toys, dolls, a trampoline, building blocks and aprons for painting and crafting, amongst other items, and had a great time. The children were delighted to be able to help unpack the boxes and see what was inside.

Karen Collins who assists with the running of Little Fishes said, “It was really kind of J Monk & Sons to support our toddler group. We keep our attendance fees very low at just £1 per family, in order that children from underprivileged families are still able to come. Many of the toys that we have are old, and it’s hard for us to keep up with replacing broken ones because funds are very limited. To have new toys donated is brilliant and it really helps us keep things fun for the children.”

Lodge Brothers serving the community for over 200 years, providing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to funeral arranging giving the best advice possible. They have a large range of floral tributes, bespoke memorials, coffins & urns and Headstones. Lodge Brothers funeral directors Ashford and Funeral directors Woking and many other Lodge Brothers branches get behind several important campaigns where lives are changed or saved such as the Road Safety Week is the UK’s biggest road safety event, involving thousands of schools, organisations and community groups every year. Set up in 1997, the event is coordinated annually by Brake each November, and aims to encourage grassroots action on road safety and raise awareness about the part we can all play in preventing tragedies and making roads safer. Road Safety Week is taking place 17-23 November 2014, it is asking everyone to ‘look out for each other’ on roads, because being selfish can easily lead to tragedy.

Particularly calling on drivers to protect people on foot and bike by slowing down to 20 in communities, looking twice and taking it slow at junctions and bends, and giving people plenty of room. Specsavers in St Neots are holding a raffle to raise funds for this excellent charity. T L Cobbold are very proud to be support such an important project.

Lodge Brothers are passionate about making people aware in order to save lives.

Lodge Brothers all around the UK Funeral Directors Chertsey and Funeral Directors Englefield Green know what a special time it is at Christmas especially if you have lost a loved one, this can be one of the most painful occasions to celebrate without your loved one. Perhaps your bereavement was more than 4 years ago, it may even be that we ddidn’tlook after the funeral arrangements for you at your time of loss, regardless, you are very welcome to call in or ring us and we will happily supply you with a tag so that you too can write your own message to someone you have lost and remember at this time of year.
